On Saturday 14 June, an easy saunter around the heathland in the central and northern parts of the borough. Part of our celebration of Bike Week.
Meet from 09:45 in Bexleyheath Town Centre, on the east side of Townley Road opposite the Central Library, DA6 7HJ. Set off at 10:00am for a gentle ride on quiet roads and paths, visiting Northumberland Heath, Bostall Heath, East Wickham Open Space and Danson Park. Return to Bexleyheath about 12 noon.
Lasting about about two hours and covering ten miles, the route is largely flat with very few hills and minimal traffic. Accompanied children over 13 are welcome. We will ride at a gentle pace, suitable for people who are less frequent cyclists or perhaps returning to cycling. It’s a good opportunity to become acquainted with the some of the quieter routes around this area, avoiding main roads and difficult junctions.
